About Sigiriya
Sigiriya is a block of red rock rising out of flat forest, with the ruins of a fifth-century palace on top and a spread-out village of hotels around its base. It is the centre of the cultural triangle, with Dambulla, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura and the elephant parks of Minneriya and Kaudulla all within reach, and it is where most itineraries pause between the airport and the hills.
