About Arugam Bay
Arugam Bay is a surf village on the east coast, a single road of guesthouses, cafés and board rental between the lagoon and the sea, with Pottuvil a few minutes north. Its season runs roughly April to October, when the south-west is under monsoon and the east coast is dry, and the right-hand point break draws surfers from all over the world. Its one drawback is distance: it is on the far side of the island from Colombo, and every way in is a long drive. Every taxi and transfer from Arugam Bay on this page has a fixed price for the whole vehicle, with the driver, fuel, tolls and parking included, paid in full online by card at booking, so the driver collects nothing at the end of the long drive.
